Commencement Day of LL.B. Fall Batch 2019

On September 12, 2019 Ziauddin Faculty of Law inducted their 2nd batch of budding young lawyers into their 5-year LL.B. program. Students came from diverse backgrounds for all the provinces came together at the Clifton Campus to start their journey for legal education. Ziauddin University has been approved by Pakistan Bar Council since April 2019 to dispense legal knowledge and now currently has nearly 100 law students in the 1 year.

Collaboration

Ziauddin University is a HEC recognized degree awarding institution which was founded in the memory of Sir Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad, a renowned academician, philosopher, mathematician and political figure, whose vision was to spread quality education amongst the population of Pakistan.

Ziauddin University initially started growing in the field of medical sciences but over time the university has proven to be a more diverse institution, offering degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy, Bio-Medical Engineering, Allied Health Sciences, Media and Communications, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Dentistry, Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, and more recently, Law and Business.

The University of Northampton will be working in partnership with Ziauddin University to deliver the following degrees by franchise arrangement:

  • BA (Hons) Business and Management (by advanced entry)
  • MBA
  • MBA (by advanced entry)
  • LLB* (UK qualifying Law degree)
  • LLM International Commercial Law (by advanced entry)

*Students who successfully complete the UON LLB degree, as approved for delivery at Ziauddin University, will be awarded a UK qualifying law degree by the University of Northampton.

LAT classes

Ziauddin University Faculty of Law conducted Law Admissions Test (LAT) Preparation training for potential Fall 2019 Batch of young lawyers. As per HEC and Pakistan Bar Council requirements, a student must achieve a 50 or higher score on LAT to be admitted to any law school in Pakistan. Many students attended the 5 day workshop that covered the major areas of study tested in the LAT. It is projected to take place on July 21, 2019.

Ziauddin University holds hands-on workshop with University of Northampton

Karachi: Ziauddin University Faculty of Law successfully collaborated with the University of Northampton for effective training of the staff and the law faculty.

The “Staff Training and Development Program Workshop” was culminated on Thursday in Ziauddin University in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of Ziauddin University and the delegation from the University of Northampton.

The workshop was a four-day long process of effective and interactive training of the staff to expand the in-class teaching style.

Addressing the session, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law Justice (Retired) Qazi Khalid Ali said this program will change the entire scenario of the legal framework in Pakistan and will effectively increase the quality of education.

He added that the workshop provided valuable groundwork for the upcoming teaching programs.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ziauddin University, Prof Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui said the Staff Training and Development workshop is a success story for years to come and everyone involved in the workshop benefited and learned new things.

The workshop proved to be beneficial for all the three universities involved including Ziauddin University, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law, and the University of Northampton and demonstrated a successful collaborative relationship.

ZU law faculty holds four-day workshop with University of Northampton

Ziauddin University Faculty of Law and the University of Northampton UK, jointly organized a four-day workshop on “Staff Training and Development Program” at Ziauddin University.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Vice-Chancellor, Ziauddin University said that the consortium of universities in Pakistan and members have got a very good opportunity to share their experiences and have interactions with each other. Workshops like these are always beneficial for teaching staff to develop their teaching methodologies and skills.

Purpose of the workshop was to work together on the same page by both universities to come together in one location for the training session and understanding each other’s teaching methodologies. Also covered admissions, student records, assessments, ceremonies and exams (ACE), library and learning services, academic partnerships office and finance.

On the first day of the workshop, introduction to the University of Northampton, overview of the program, professional services and key contacts, interactive activities, introduction to UK Higher Education and its standards and principles, and UK Higher Education Credit System were explained.

In “Program Team Sessions”, subject specialists, program level expectations, learning outcomes, subject team activity presentations, and learning descriptors and learning outcomes were discussed.

The delegation  from University of Northampton had faculty members including Maggie Anderson – Academic Programme Manager,  Kate Exall – Senior  Lecturer  in Law LLB, Rani Kaur Senior Lecturer in Management BAM/ MBA, Alexander Lawson- Assessment and Quality Coordinator Law- LLM, Kelly Ann Cannon – Lecturer in LAW – LLM, Heather Yovanoff- Academic Programme Development  Manager.

Law Commencement Day

Faculty of Law, Ziauddin University hosted its Commencement ceremony on Friday, 26th April 2019 at Ziauddin University Abul Hasan Jafery Auditorium to welcome its very first Batch of students, Spring Batch 2019.

Ms. Shaaista Sarki, Faculty of Law Dean, in her welcome speech said that all the students have worked really hard to clear LAT and screening to get admission in the university. Students will be facilitated to the fullest. She conveyed her best wishes and prayers.

 The Chief Guest of the event, Honorable Justice of Sindh High Court Mr. Justice Aqeel Abbasi while addressing the new batch said that the lawyers are performing very well in the society to provide justice. He urged students to set ultimate targets and keep in mind to work hard and help others in order to achieve those targets. He mentioned that it’s essential to bring discipline in life. He emphasized to get knowledge about different fields as well because it ultimately helps to succeed as a lawyer in long term. He said that positivity of law profession should reflect through the actions of a lawyer.

He congratulated the students and their parents for taking a smart decision to choose this respectable and noble profession. Lastly, he outlined that it’s the responsibility of all the enrolled students to work hard, serve humanity and make parents proud after graduation.

 Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Ziauddin University welcomed  the 1st batch of faculty of Law and said that students’ vision should be to make ZU, parents and most importantly the country, our beloved Pakistan proud in the long run.

Chancellor Ziauddin University, Dr. Asim Hussain while addressing the audience said that citizens have should abide by the law. The “jirga” and “panchayat” system has deep roots in society that is why everyone has failed to deliver collectively. Therefore, it is our prime responsibility to give right guidance to this Nation and build it block by block.

 While motivating the new batch, Dr. Asim said that we need to be more Indigenous and have roots among masses. Ziauddin is a unique law school because its target is to have such good students that end up in the judiciary system eventually. The graduates should be sort after lawyers with highest ranking in the world unlike others.

Ziauddin University Convocation 2018

Ziauddin University awarded 504 degrees to its graduating students of different disciplines at its 15th convocation held at the Expo Centre here on Wednesday.

Addressing the students, Sindh Governor Muha­mad Zubair, the chief guest on the occasion, emphasised the importance of quality education and praised the efforts of university chancellor Dr Asim Hussain for the institution.
